Cristóbal Cobo Romaní (PhD). A partir de 2010 se desempeña como investigador asociado (research fellow) del Oxford Internet Institute de la Universidad de Oxford. Ahí colabora en diferentes investigaciones sobre innovación, transferencia de conocimiento y el futuro de Internet financiados por la Comisión Europea tales como: Network of Excellence in Internet Science, OportUnidad (Recursos Educativos Abiertos para Universidades), Knetworks (Knowledge Dissemination Network for the Atlantic Area by the European Regional Development Fund), SESERV (Socio-Economics Services for European Research Projects, ICT Research in FP7, UE). Co-responsable del proyecto de investigación: Aprendizaje Invisible (U. Minnesota-U.Oxford, 2011). Profesor e investigador y coordinador del Departamento de Comunicación y Nuevas Tecnologíasde la Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO-México) durante los años 2005-2010.
Entre sus principales publicaciones destacan: Aprendizaje Invisible: Hacia una nueva ecología de la educación. Laboratorio de Medios Interactivos: Universidad de Barcelona (escrito junto a John Moravec). Realizó su doctorado en Ciencias de la Comunicación en la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Su tesis doctoral (con distinción cum laude) fue sobre estudios de Interacción Persona Máquina (HCI) fue publicada en 2009.

SUMMARY
To cut a long story short: Cristóbal Cobo (Phd) is a research fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, where he coordinates research on innovation, open knowledge initiatives and future of learning research projects. Currently he works on Internet Science and OportUnidad project (founded by European Commission). Cristobal has been distinguished by the British Council of Economic and Social Research (ESRC) and visiting Fellow at the Centre on Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance, University of Oxford. He was Professor and director of Communication and New Technologies at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, Mexico. He has served as external Evaluator for National Science Foundation and MIT Press (US), International Labour Organization (UN), and the International Development Research Centre (Canada). Invited Expert for RAND EU in future trends on technology and education commissioned by the Bureau of European Policy Advisors (BEPA). Dr Cobo currently serves on the board of the Global Open Educational Resource (OER) Graduate Network. He has PhD “cum laudem” Communication Sciences at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. [+] Cristobal Cobo is a research fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute. He currently works on the Network of Excellence in Internet Science (European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme), in the OportUnidad project (Open Educational Resources, ALFA III) as well as in the European Community’s Interreg Atlantic Area Programme ‘K-Network‘ project, focused on creating a strong knowledge sharing and dissemination network in the Atlantic Area to promote the exchange of good practices and implementation strategies for building and exploiting a 21st Century Knowledge and Information Society. In addition, he collaborates on the Socio-Economic Services for European Research Project to study social and economical implication aspects of the Internet (ICT Research in FP7, UE). Invited reviewer at the MIT Press.
In 2009 he was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre on Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance, University of Oxford, supported by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) to study European public policy on the development of digital skills. In 2010, he was appointed to the advisory council of the Latin American 2010 and 2012 Horizon Report, a global study developed by the New Media Consortium. From 2005 to 2010 he was Professor and Director of Communication and New Technologies and editor of the educational platform of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO, Mexican Campus). In 2007 he participated as Academic coordinator of the program ‘From Information to Innovative Knowledge’ in collaboration with the University of Minnesota. In 2005 he earned his doctorate ‘cum laude’ at the University of Barcelona, for his work on developing experimental models to optimize the interaction between humans and machines.
With John Moravec he is co-author the book “Invisible Learning: Toward a new ecology of education” (2010); In 2009 he published ‘Information Architecture, usability and Internet‘ (2009) and with Hugo Pardo he wrote ‘Planet Web 2.0, fast food media or collective intelligence’. He also has worked on academic projects with organizations such as the Open University (UK), the University of Minnesota, the University of Toronto, the Open University of Catalonia, the Mexican Ministry of Public Education, Burson-Marsteller (Chile) and the Ministries of Education of Chile and Argentina, the Telefonica Foundation (Argentina and Mexico) and the European Union (Program ALFA III).
Fields of interest: knowledge transfer, open source, informal learning, innovation and digital literacies.
