¿De qué acceso estamos hablando?

Van Dijk (2003), propone una tipología clarificadora sobre los diferentes tipos de brecha digital, que creo resulta especialmente acertada en los tiempos actuales, cuando la mirada de los ‘especialistas’ (y peor aún de los gobiernos) apenas está preocupada de cuánto acceso hay a las computadoras y a Internet. Aquí los cuatro tipos de barreas que propone este autor.


1. Lack of elementary digital experience caused by lack of interest, computer anxiety, and unattractiveness of the new technology (“mental access”).

2. No possession of computers and network connections (“material access”).

3. Lack of digital skills caused by insufficient userfriendliness and inadequate education or social support (“skills access”).

4. Lack of significant usage opportunities (“usage access”).
